The lemon sat on the counter for four days. I had bought two for a salad I never made, and by Thursday they were both darker than they should be.

I almost threw them out. Instead I picked one up, turned it in my hand, smelled the skin (still bright, almost perfumed), and decided that a lemon that had waited this long deserved to become something.

The peel is where the work is.

How we think

Five rules.
No more, no less.

Every product, every line of copy, every hiring decision gets read through this list. Discipline is the feature.

  1. AI first.

    Before adding work, ask if AI can remove it.

    If a button asks a human to repeat work AI could handle, the button is the bug.

  2. Beautiful simplicity.

    The fewest steps that still let the work happen.

    People should not need a manual. Products should feel obvious.

  3. Build fast.

    Iteration is the strategy.

    Perfect products never launch. We ship sooner, gather signal, and improve continuously.

  4. Automate the repeat.

    The boring part should disappear.

    If something is repeated, AI should automate it. The point of the studio is that the boring part disappears — for our users, and for us.

  5. Global from day one.

    Language, currency and location are foundations, not features.

    Build for the open internet from day one, not as a feature flag added in v2.

Culture follows: ownership, curiosity, speed, learning, execution. Title matters less than impact. Failure is acceptable. Not building is not.

Definition of success

A successful Tolti Labs product does six things.

We are not optimising this quarter. We are building the things that, five years from now, will still feel like the right shape.
